Meridel Bulle-Vu is a Managing Attorney in the Domestic Violence/Family Law Unit. Meridel represents and advocates for survivors of domestic violence in obtaining protection orders and securing custody of their children. As a staff attorney, Meridel represented custodial and non-custodial parents in child support and paternity cases, including through Legal Aid DC’s Child Support Community Legal Services Project. She continues to engage in policy advocacy and court reform efforts to improve the District’s child support system, including as a Commissioner on the D.C. Child Support Guideline Commission.
Prior to joining Legal Aid DC in June 2011, Meridel was the recipient of the Georgetown/Howrey Pro Bono Fellowship at Howrey LLP, where she represented clients in a variety of pro bono matters. Meridel has also served as an intern for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, the National Health Law Program (NHeLP), and The Door Legal Services Center.
Meridel graduated with an A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University, where she concentrated in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and was the recipient of the Priscilla Glickman ’92 Memorial Prize for Community Service and the Dean Hank Dobin Prize for Community Based Independent Work. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a student attorney in the Juvenile Justice Clinic and served as Notes Editor on the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy. While in law school, Meridel was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award and the Juvenile Justice Clinic Public Service Award.
