Ordis Harris

Several years ago, as a part of the stimulus package, thousands of D.C. food stamp recipients became entitled to an increase in their benefits. D.C. failed to implement the program for more than year, however, depriving those families of a desperately-needed increase in their benefits. Ordis Harris stepped forward to fight not only for himself, but also for others like him. With Legal Aid DC’s help, Mr. Harris and thousands of District food stamp recipients received the retroactive benefit increase to which they were entitled — resulting in more than $7.3 million in additional benefits for needy D.C. residents.
