Leta Bennafield

Leta Bennafield, a DC native, relied on SNAP and Disability Assistance to support her children and her elderly mother while she pursued an engineering degree. She faced some challenges when these benefits were abruptly cut due to clerical issues at the DC Department of Human Services (DHS). Legal Aid attorney Nicole Dooley helped Ms. Bennafield fight tirelessly to reinstate her benefits, securing both the SNAP and the Disability Assistance despite repeated challenges to her benefits.
